I am quiet in my soul.
Peaceful and Grateful.
This was a very good season.
Three little Christmas Houses remind me of the cold and blustery day in November that my Mama, Ashley and I (with little Poppy) ventured out to Nell Hill's in search of Holiday goodness.
Candles burned all month long.
New stockings!
Before we ever had children I purchased the bow and flower stockings at an after Christmas sale.
Each and every year I would lament the fact that I didn't make new stockings to accommodate our growing family.
This summer, unbeknownst to me, David dug the two stockings out of our tub of Holiday decor, and took them to a very talented lady who created two new matching stockings for my boys!
How very very thoughtful.
New Books!
My favorite Christmas gift.
Admittedly, they never get a lot of action the morning of.
There are other shiny new things.
But books are friends that last longer than all the other toys and goodies.
Last night at 10:30pm, Roman snuck into my room with his new book.
We read about Mike Mulligan and Mary Anne by the light of my lamp.
I am looking forward to the new year, but sort of want to hang on to the last bits of loveliness this December has been.

Tara, you are so talented! Your pictures are simply beautiful. And I feel the same way about books. (Laughing to see a Star Wars book in there, because that's what our bookshelves are filled with). ;)
And wow, I love your open faced book shelves! I need to get me some of those.
David is so amazing! How thoughtful of him! I too love your open face bookshelves - not sure mine would stay so nice and neat though :)

I love the stockings. What a wonderful and thoughtful gift. Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and so fun to decorate. Your decorations always amaze me.
Your family coming over on boxing day was a great memory of mine! We need to make a December tradition with our families.
December is the best...glad you documented your feelings and memories so well. Your children will be grateful.
(That talented lady is pretty cool...great stockings!)
All your extra touches make everything look so warm. Husbands can be awesome can't they?! Ohh and your books, I love books. My latest craze are books of all shapes and sizes. It can be addicting. So many to choose from. I'm glad you had a great Christmas.
You have the knack that I wish I had. To transform the home into something magical - I tell you Tara. No matter how hard I try, it's not quite what I hope for.
That husband of yours...he sets the bar!
Hey Tara - where did you get the white bookshelves in the last picture?
hey melissa!
this is a very unsatisfying answer, but david made them.
I can email you the directions if you're interested!
Hey Tara - of course he made them!! If you have the directions somewhere, that would be great. But don't take the time to write them out just for me - I'm sure I could figure it out. My email is melissajmcatee@gmail.com thanks!
Reconnecting with your blog. I was just thinking... it has been over 15 years since I lived in KC! Doesn't seem that long. ;( I am now craving a KC visit... would love to see you and the Sloan/Painter clan again! :)
