It was a no school Friday so we made a trip down to Montrose, Missouri to visit Dave's mom and step-dad. On the road I spent the whole time reading Town and Country and Harper's Bazaar Magazines. Just when I thought I'd reached my limit of overly sexed advertisements for expensive watches and perfume...I turned the page and saw a naked man covering his groin with a cologne bottle. No really, I almost spit out my water in a fit of laughter. That man, he's alive somewhere on this globe, and what in the world would he think about fishing, and rifles, and hot dogs, and pears from a tree in the middle of Missouri? Oh the dichotomy. I wonder what a life glamorized in those glossy pages would feel like. I'll be honest, I haven't a clue. But all day long the sky was soft and cloudy and the wind was blowing. The open expanses invited introspection. There are certainly endless ways to fill a day. I feel refreshed and peaceful tonight, so I'm content with the way I filled mine.

oh gracious! Roman's camo has got to be the cutest thing I have ever seen! man I want to just squish him!

I'm in a constant state of shock of the things they can show on tv, movies, magazines! A bottle over the groin! sheesh- hopefully it was a rather large bottle

Do I dare ask what those things are hanging on the barbed wire fence? I'm thinking some kind of animal carcass, but can't quite make it out.

Oh, and the look on you son's face while holding the rifle? Classic!
Miss you guys!

Yikes! I wish I could say I was surprised by the cologne ad. Sick sick sick. Kind of makes you want to be a hermit, doesn't it?

Yay for down-to-earth living :). One has to wonder who thought that 'eau de crotch' was a great idea to start with and why no one else in the meeting said, "That's stupid." Instead - "Brilliant! Let's run that one."

Hmm.

Yes, sometimes I feel out of step as a frumpy homemaker, but then I think, "I'm good with that."

Your pictures are priceless, as always. Looks like a great weekend!

Your pictures are to die for and you are so great with words. Isn't it funny how very, very different two people's lives can be? I'm happy to be here in the midwest too. Your children will cherish these memories forever!
