a post about Chinese food, a lamp shade and my marriage

I'm a little bit excited about my lamp. I like how it turned out, and I like that it's done. I got the lamp base at a Relief Society Enrichment "swap". free. I really liked the yellow. But heavens, that was two years ago in Portland, Oregon. The lamp has been on my nightstand - shadeless - since. Then, a couple Friday's ago, Dave said, "Get ready, a babysitter is coming, we're going out." And we got into the car and backed out of the driveway without a plan. Just knew we needed some time away. Wondered to Target, found a plain lamp shade. Drove to the fabric store, and got lucky with a $1.35 purchase. (then we shared grocery store Chinese food and picked up twizzlers -for him- and a slice of french silk pie -for me-). best.date.ever. I'm going to remember it every time I look at that lamp.

I love it! Funny thing - my mom has had a lamp on her nightstand for YEARS without a shade. She's pretty crafty...I think she could pull something off like this!

Thanks for the ideas on the white dishes, I'll have to check that out. Especially the cake plates, I have a slight obsession with them ;) but what don't i get obsessed over..hehe

i was watching an old episode of the cosby show, the parents had gone out for a date. and they said that they are so blessed to have childre, because w/o them they wouldn't know the joy of leaving them at home and going out! :) i thought that was funny, i'm glad your date night was so much fun!

Sometimes it's the most simplest dates that make the biggest impression. I know that's the way it was with Ryan and I too.

PLEASE post a how-to on this Tara. Or email me if you get a free minute. Is it ribbon? how?? You are amazing at matching those two colors together to make it look so domino-esque. Bravo!
