Nauvoo

We spent the weekend in Nauvoo, on the banks of the Mississippi.
We played old fashioned children's games,
enjoyed the magnificent pageant,
jumped on hotel beds,
and felt peace in the temple.
For me, Nauvoo is always a deeply personal experience.
The city has been meticulously restored.
But this time it was the raw scenery that humbled me.
hilltop views
ditches
that wide river
Respectively, they whisper evidence of
faith
industry
and fortitude.
This trip came at the perfect time for me.
I love Nauvoo.

And I love the split picture of the temple. You are amazing.

Your pictures made me tear up. I have such a love for that city, since I served my mission there. What an emotional place and how you can truly feel the Spirit of Nauvoo and feel all those faithful saints who lived, suffered and persevered there.

Looks like you guys had tons of fun. I just took my kids to Palmyra this summer. A little more abstract than Nauvoo. But hopefully something they will remember.
