Lately...

We've been enjoying evening swims.
And, it's official. I can now apply for my "embarrassing mom" card status. I use coupons. And while my kids happily walk the isles with me and my coupon stash, I anticipate rolling eyes in the future. Thanks to my friend Jill (see her story here) I am testing the merits of coupon clipping. I still have a few reservations, like that a lot of the coupons are for highly processed food, but my total bill for EVERYTHING you see in the image above was...$2. As in 2 bucks for 10 items. That's it. $2. Heck, a month ago, I would have been thrilled with the idea of getting two boxes of Raisin Bran for 2 bucks. I am understanding with more clarity why the ladies on Oprah, and on morning TV shows have such feverish looks in their eyes when they speak about amazing grocery deals. This coupon clipping game is highly addictive.

Nothing better than some FREE food.
You will have to explain your secrets to me when you get in town.

I love your blog! It is so positive and motivating. Your kids are adorable and I love seeing the pictures you take and your projects. I thought being a stay at home mom would be all fun and games, but am learning it's not. Please post pointers on how to be a cute mom like you! I am also getting into photography, what kind of camera do you have? Thanks for your fun posts, I look forward to checking it often.

shoot...I really am not a pro at this yet (as in, I've been getting the sunday paper for 3 weeks now), but the basic idea is to combine your coupons with items that are already on sale at the stores. (thats when you get the MAJOR deals...like crescent rolls and cinnamon rolls and french bread were free for me last week, and two oral B toothbrushes were $0.50) Also CVS and Walgreens can be a good place to score a deal on stuff! And check to see if your local grocery stores double or triple coupons (mine do yeah!) A great site to look at is couponmom.com, TONS of FREE info and even online coupons you can print. There are also sites you can pay to use (like the "grocery game") but with a little work, you can do the same thing yourself! Be sure to click on the link to Jill's post because she has lots of info, and if you are interested in any of the sale cycle sheets, or the tabs to organize your own binder (or any other info) email me! I will send them your way. taragpainter@gmail.com
